Description
The health focus day is a whole day (9:30am-2:30pm) for Bexley Voice members to come and access lots of information about a specific topic in one place.
The day includes 2 or 3 sessions that parents can sign up for in advance. They can attend all or just one of the sessions.
In addition, there is a general SEND marketplace for parents to drop into throughout the day, covering lots of SEN issues.
Why attend?
- It is a good opportunity for you to speak directly with professionals regarding your child’s specific needs and to gather lots of information
- Increase your confidence and knowledge and feel empowered to support your child
- Meet other SEND parents and gain support by swapping ideas and experiences so that you do not feel alone in your SEND journey
- Improve communication and joined up working between parents and carers and professionals
Previous topics included:
- Understanding Behaviours in Children and Young People (Bexley CAMHS)
- Mental Health (Bexley CAMHS, Bexley Early Intervention Team and Bexley MIND)
- Speech, Language and Communication (Oxleas and Bexley Joint Communication Team)
- Understanding and Managing your Child or Young Person’s Anxiety (Emma Lillis, CAMHS (MH support for parents), Bexley Educational Psychologists EBSA (Emotionally Based School Avoidance)
Who can attend?
They are available to Bexley Voice members. If you are not a member, click here to join (free membership is open to parents and carers of children or young people with special needs or disabilities who live in the Bexley borough and/or attend a Bexley borough educational setting).
Do I need to book?
Yes, spaces are limited. You will need to complete the booking form on our events calendar. (You can just turn up to visit the marketplace.)
Although the workshops are provided free of charge, they do require Bexley Voice resources to run (finances and volunteer time), so it is very important that any registered places are taken up. If you know that you cannot attend a session, for which you have registered, we respectfully request that you let us know in advance, so that we can either offer someone else a space or postpone the session. If you need to cancel on the day, due to unforeseen circumstances, please let us know as soon as possible, even if this is after the event. We understand fully that on the day there can be emergencies which mean people cannot attend sessions for which they have registered.
