Families can only attend if they are already known to the CwDS (Children with Disabilities Service) or would meet the criteria for support, i.e. severe and profound disabilities up to age 18. Sessions are a mixture of face-to-face and virtual meetings. It is an opportunity to meet members of the social work team and find out more about short breaks.
Topics include:
- Accessing specialist short breaks including Saturday clubs, holiday schemes and overnight respite
- Transition from Children’s to Adult Services
- Employing a Personal Assistant
- Receiving domiciliary care in your own home
- Receiving/spending Direct Payments
- OT Assessment for home adaptations/specialist equipment
