Bexley Voice is an independent, parent-led, registered charity, which was formed in 2011. We work with (not for) the local authority, health and local services to improve services for children and young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) and their families.
We signpost, support and empower families to obtain the best possible care and services. Our members have children and young people aged 0-25, who live in and/or attend an educational setting in the London Borough of Bexley and we are an active member of the National Network of Parent Carer Forums.
Our aims
- To be approachable; clear; accessible; inclusive; respectful and accountable to our members, providing information to inform and empower parent carers on the issues that affect their families.
- To provide a united forum, gathering views and information from parent carers to highlight common issues to share with education, health and social care providers to influence positive change.
- To encourage opportunities for parent carers to participate, contribute and influence decisions in developing services that meet the needs of their families.
- Parent Carer Forums cannot act as case workers or advocates, we are simply the link between parent carers and the local authority and other SEN service providers.
- To work together to ensure that communication links remain open and transparent.
- To maximise opportunities for engagement and participation from our parent carers.
Our vision
A world where children and young people with SEND and their families have equal opportunities and access to the right support and education to enable them to lead independent and fulfilling lives and reach their full potential.
Our mission statement
To support and empower parents and carers of children and young people (0-25) with SEND, in Bexley borough, ensuring all parents and carers have their views heard both in relation to their child’s needs and to inform the planning and development of services locally and nationally.
