Madeleine has been a volunteer with Bexley Voice since January 2026.
Madeleine works for the NHS and has two children, one of whom has a hearing loss and wears hearing aids. She started a group for parents of d/Deaf and hard of hearing children across Bexley, Lewisham and Greenwich, which meets quarterly, and is also part of a parent group in Southwark and Lambeth.
Madeleine is also the parent representative within a multidisciplinary group (including healthcare and education professionals) supporting children with hearing loss in the borough. Madeleine is heavily invested in support for early years children and navigating the SEN Support and EHCP process for a soon to be school-aged child with additional needs.
“I wholeheartedly believe that if we (parents and professionals) can support children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities from as early as possible, we can set them up to thrive. Creating communities for parents of children with SEND is key to this, so that no one feels alone in navigating the complex landscape of support and advice”
